Newcom doesn't have thought bubbles - she has to-do lists, and she's always ticking through them. She exerts control over her mind that way, blocking out the loud music she finds disagreeable. But the soap and hot water must have made her mind insubordinate, as she finds herself thinking about Mack... who's not that ugly, after all...
