You're exactly right, 100%. I was worried that nobody would get that, and that it was too obscure to even bring up.

RACK 'EM UP
I had a line for Basher where he was going to say, "I killed four tanks - one more and I'm the first tank Ace in fifty years," or something like that... but I couldn't make it work. It was going to be in panel one of the "no time" page (55), but I replaced it with "I'm gonna kill 'em," instead.
Ha ha! This reminds me of how my toy tanks used to come apart like that!

Tankers come in two basic forms, pure tanks that do all the things you picture in the war movies, and what they call the "armored cavalry," which is used more like traditional horse cavalry from back in the day. As a result, they have a certain sprit de corps, and the officers even wear old timey cavalry hats on special occasions.
They have a saying - "If you ain't Cav, you ain't." I think they mean "ain't shit," but they have short attention spans and need to truncate their sentences. Needless to say, most tankers think those officers are douschebags. Basher is one of them, and when we get to the main story you will see he is a DB. But every dog has his day, and this is Basher's Moment of Glory.
