Newcom has heard the question so much, she has become reflexively defensive about her accomplishments and her ability. But seeing an American tank burned out on the side of the road provides a stark reminder of her real responsibilities, and shocks her back into Officer Mode.

Yeah, that'd shock the shit out of--I don't know--anybody who grew up since the Gulf War.

Especially shocking for a young Lieutenant fresh out of Armor Officer Basic, where they told her the Abrams tank when properly deployed is a nigh indestructible ass kicking machine!
